Sondre Lerche - Acrobats (Transparent Red Vinyl)

Acrobats is Sondre Lerche's eleventh studio album, and this is its standard single-LP edition: eight songs on 140-gram transparent red vinyl in a top-load sleeve printed on both sides. It is one of three formats, alongside a CD and a gatefold double-LP "Splendor" edition sold through the artist's webstore, which adds his EP Turning Up The Heat Again.

The album follows 2022's Avatars of Love. Matias Téllez and Kato Ådland produced it, and it was recorded across nine studios. Sean O'Hagan of The High Llamas wrote the string arrangements, played by the Stockholm Studio Orchestra. Guest players include Solveig Wang on clarinet, Jonas Hamre on saxophone, Ole Morten Vågan on upright bass and Emil Bø on trombone, and Lerche's longtime band members Dave Heilman (drums) and Chris Holm (bass) also appear.

The album's notes describe its subject as finding love in dystopian times of global unrest. "Falling in love feels more and more like an act of defiance," Lerche has said.

"Little Kids," the lead single, came with a video directed by Lea Meyer; Lerche has said it was the first time in his career he felt compelled to make a video that visualized elements of the lyrics. Two songs, "Love Is All" and "Follow The River," each run close to nine minutes, and this pressing places them back to back across the side break, closing side A and opening side B.
