She Wants Revenge is the San Fernando Valley duo of singer and guitarist Justin Warfield and multi-instrumentalist Adam Bravin, formed in 2004. Warfield had earlier recorded as a rapper, and Bravin had worked as a DJ under the name DJ Adam 12. uDiscover's notes credit Fred Durst with signing the pair to Geffen in 2005.

Warfield and Bravin produced the album themselves, recording it through the autumn and winter of 2004 in Los Angeles. Michael Patterson mixed it and Greg Calbi mastered it. Geffen released it on January 31, 2006, and the band toured with Depeche Mode through that year.

The album reached No. 38 on the Billboard 200, No. 3 on Top Dance Albums and No. 9 on Top Rock Albums, and was certified Gold by the RIAA. "These Things," the lead single, reached No. 22 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart. "Tear You Apart" reached No. 6 on the same chart and has since been certified Platinum; Joaquin Phoenix directed its video. The song was used in the season premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel in 2015, the year the band reunited.
