This compact disc of Sade's Promise was pressed in the United States by Digital Audio Disc Corporation, the DADC plant in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Portrait catalog number RK 40263. Its matrix, DIDP-020406 8, uses the six-digit code format DADC adopted in 1988, and the DADC "D" logo molded into the clear hub is a mark Terre Haute discs carried through 1992, which places this disc between 1988 and 1992.

One disc in a jewel case with a booklet. The DADC code is also printed on the disc face, beneath the catalog number. The booklet front carries the Promise portrait with the Compact Disc Digital Audio logo and the words "Digitally Mastered Analog Recording" in the lower corner.

The album first appeared in 1985, so this is a later US repress on the original Portrait catalog number rather than the original pressing. The compact disc runs to eleven tracks: "You're Not the Man" and "Punch Drunk" are both absent from the LP edition.

Promise is Sade's second studio album, and it reached number one on both the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200.
