The Spirit Of Radio: Greatest Hits 1974-1987 on vinyl for the first time, as a two-record set on 180 gram black vinyl with an 8-page booklet. All 16 tracks of the original compilation are here, four to a side, from "Working Man" to "Time Stand Still." A separate single-LP edition, sold as a retail exclusive, trims the program to ten songs and swaps in "Finding My Way"; this double LP is the complete sequence.

The compilation was first released on February 11, 2003, on CD. It reached No. 45 on the Billboard 200 and No. 17 in Canada, and it is certified gold by the RIAA in the United States and by the BPI in the United Kingdom. The selection runs from the band's 1974 debut through Hold Your Fire in 1987 and includes nothing from the third album, Caress of Steel.

The vinyl edition was announced alongside a 50th anniversary pressing of 2112, whose "Overture" and "The Temples of Syrinx" appear on side one here.
