Roosevelt is Marius Lauber. He wrote, recorded and produced his self-titled debut alone over two years, and Chris Coady mixed it. City Slang and Greco-Roman issued the album on August 19, 2016.

It reached number 27 on the German albums chart, 36 in Austria and 33 in Switzerland, number 49 on the UK Independent Albums chart, and number 11 on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums. Metacritic puts it at 73 out of 100 across nine reviews; Paste graded it 8.2 and Pitchfork 7.0.

The anniversary pressing is a double LP. Sides A and B carry the twelve-track album as it was issued in 2016. Sides C and D carry seven bonus tracks: the Midnight Versions of "Close," "Colours" and "Wait Up," then "Teardrops," a piano version of "Night Moves," "Soleil" and "Small Hours."

Both records are white. The sleeve is a gatefold with an obi-strip, and every copy ships with a postcard signed by Lauber and a link to a digital copy of the album. City Slang limited the run to 1,000 copies worldwide.
