Clowns and Jugglers: The Songs of Syd Barrett

Clowns and Jugglers is an official celebration of the life and songs of Pink Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett, released to mark what would have been his 80th birthday. Assembled with the support of Barrett's family, it gathers newly recorded studio covers, previously unreleased material and standout live performances of his work, drawn from both his Pink Floyd and solo catalogue.

The double LP brings together Pink Floyd (with a Rick Wright vocal), David Gilmour alongside a David Bowie vocal on "Arnold Layne," Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets, Soft Machine, Kula Shaker, Voyage 35, Robyn Hitchcock, Rosalie Cunningham, Tim Bowness, Theo Travis, Henge, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats and more, each interpreting a piece of the Barrett songbook — from "See Emily Play" and "Lucifer Sam" to "Octopus," "Baby Lemonade" and "Effervescing Elephant."

The sleeve was created by artist Mark Wilkinson — known for his Iron Maiden, Marillion and Judas Priest covers — around one of Barrett's most iconic images. The release accompanies an 80th-birthday tribute concert at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, the venue of Barrett's final live performance, with proceeds going to mental health charities chosen by the Estate of Syd Barrett.
