Black Vinyl 2LP With Printed Inner Sleeves

This is the black vinyl edition of the 2026 4AD reissue, catalog number 4AD0878LP: two LPs in a wide-spined single sleeve, each in a printed inner sleeve, with a hype sticker reading "First time on vinyl." Kevin Vanbergen remastered every track from the original analog tapes and cut the lacquers, and his Curvepusher credit appears in the runout of each side. A crystal clear 2LP and a 2CD were issued alongside it under their own barcodes.

Complete B Sides first appeared on CD in 2001, while the band was on hiatus. It gathers the 19 B-sides from the singles Pixies released on 4AD between 1988 and 1991, from "Gigantic" and "Monkey Gone to Heaven" through "Velouria," "Dig for Fire" and "Planet of Sound." Reviewing the original, Pitchfork wrote that "the Pixies were the blinding visionaries of the 80s."

The original running order fills sides A through C. Side D is new to this edition: six live recordings first issued on later Pixies singles, among them the 1997 reissue of "Debaser." "Planet of Sound" and "Tame" come from the band's July 26, 1991 show at Brixton Academy in London, and the other four from the Cabaret Metro in Chicago on August 10, 1989. On side A, "Vamos" and "In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song)" were taped at London's Town and Country Club on May 1, 1988.

The studio tracks were cut at Fort Apache in Boston, Eden Studios in Newtonville, Massachusetts, Blackwing in London and Master Control in Burbank, along with "Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf)," recorded at the Palladium in Edinburgh. Chris Bigg of v23 designed the new sleeve from Simon Larbalestier photographs that had been slated for the band and then shelved, working on it in tandem with the reissue of Pixies at the BBC, 1988-91 in memory of the band's longtime visual director, Vaughan Oliver.
