4AD's 2026 repress of Bossanova on black vinyl, cut from a new master by engineer Kevin Vanbergen, who went back to the band's original analog tapes for the job. It is part of the label's run of 40th-anniversary Pixies reissues and arrives alongside a matching repress of Trompe le Monde.

Bossanova was the third Pixies album, released August 13, 1990, on 4AD in the UK and jointly with Elektra in the US, with Gil Norton producing for the second time after Doolittle. Sessions ran at Cherokee, Silverlake, Aire L.A. and Master Control around Los Angeles, with further work at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin.

It reached No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 70 on the Billboard 200 and is certified Gold in the UK and France. The singles were "Velouria" and "Dig for Fire"; "Allison" takes its name from pianist Mose Allison, and the opening "Cecilia Ann" is a Surftones cover, the first cover to appear on a Pixies album.

Vaughan Oliver's planet design for the sleeve, photographed by Simon Larbalestier and Kevin Westenberg, follows the science-fiction thread running through Black Francis's lyrics.
