Deluxe 50th Anniversary Box Set: 4LP on Clear Vinyl, 2CD, Blu-ray & 7-Inch Single

Wish You Were Here 50 was announced on September 12, 2025, fifty years to the day after the album's UK release, and issued on December 12, 2025. This deluxe box is the largest configuration of the set. It gathers the 2CD, the three-LP edition pressed here on clear vinyl, and the Blu-ray, then adds a fourth clear LP, a replica of the Japanese 7-inch single of "Have a Cigar" (edit) backed with "Welcome to the Machine," a hardcover book of unseen photographs, a comic book tour program, and a Knebworth concert poster.

The first three LPs carry the original five-track album on sides A and B, followed by nine studio rarities. Six of them had never been released in any form: an early instrumental rough mix of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," two demos of the song first called "The Machine Song," which became "Welcome to the Machine," a first take and a pedal steel instrumental mix of "Wish You Were Here," and a new stereo mix that joins all nine parts of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" into one continuous piece. The earlier of the two Machine Song demos is the home recording Roger Waters first brought to the band.

Side C holds the version of "Wish You Were Here" with the jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli. He was paid for the 1975 session, but his part was mixed down to near silence on the released album and he went uncredited.

LP4, Live at Wembley 1974, comes from the band's November 1974 shows at the Empire Pool, where two of its three new pieces were "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "You've Got to Be Crazy." The second was held back and reworked as "Dogs" for Animals in 1977.

The Blu-ray presents the album in four mixes: a 2025 Dolby Atmos mix by James Guthrie, whose work with the band goes back to The Wall in 1979, the 2011 5.1 surround mix, the original 1975 stereo mix and the quadraphonic mix. It adds the nine studio bonus tracks, three concert screen films from the 1975 tour, a Storm Thorgerson short film from 2000, and sixteen recordings from the band's April 26, 1975 concert at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. The bootlegger Mike Millard taped that show; it receives its first official release here, restored and remastered by Steven Wilson.
