This is the Indie Exclusive edition of Pimpalation's first release on vinyl, part of the 40th anniversary reissue series from Rap-A-Lot Records and Virgin Music Group. Both discs are pressed in the "Bordeaux Gold" colorway, translucent grape vinyl with gold marbling, and an exclusive insert is included. All 17 tracks of the original album run across the four sides.

Pimpalation is Pimp C's second solo album, first released in July 2006 by Rap-A-Lot and Asylum. It followed his release from prison at the end of December 2005, and its sessions ran at Dean's List House of Hits, M.A.D. Studios and Studio 7303 in Houston and at PatchWerk Recording Studios in Atlanta. Mike Dean mastered the record and produced alongside Mr. Lee, Jazze Pha, Mannie Fresh, Cory Mo, Beat Master Clay D, Myke Diesel and Pimp C himself.

His UGK partner Bun B appears on "Rock 4 Rock" and "Pourin' Up," and the guest list also includes Scarface, Mike Jones, Lil' Keke, Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, Trae, Z-Ro, 8Ball & MJG, Lil Boosie and Webbie. Three singles came from the album: "I'm Free," built on a sample of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'" and a No. 12 entry on Billboard's rap chart, followed by "Pourin' Up" and "Knockin' Doorz Down."

The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 87,288 copies and reached No. 1 on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts. The RIAA certified it gold in March 2007. It was the last solo album Pimp C released in his lifetime.
