Single Disc, Original 1991 Mix

This is the standard catalogue CD of the debut album as it was released: eleven tracks in Rick Parashar's original mix, not the 2009 Brendan O'Brien remix that appears on the expanded editions.

The band cut it at London Bridge Studio in Seattle across March and April 1991. Parashar produced and engineered with the band and played piano, organ and percussion on the record; Tim Palmer mixed it at Ridge Farm in England, and it was mastered at Masterdisk in New York.

It reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spent 264 weeks on the chart. The RIAA has certified it thirteen times platinum, against thirteen million US copies sold as of 2013. Four singles followed: "Alive" in July 1991, "Even Flow" in March 1992, "Jeremy" — heard above — in August, and "Oceans" that December.

"Release" closes the disc at just over nine minutes, carrying the untitled "Master/Slave" outro.
