Limited Numbered Turquoise Vinyl LP With Bonus 7-Inch

This Music On Vinyl edition of My Brother the Cow, catalog number MOVLP1144, was limited to 1,500 individually numbered copies on turquoise 180 gram vinyl and made in the EU under license from Reprise. The twelve album tracks sit on the LP. A bonus 7-inch, also turquoise and marked "Promotion only. Not for sale" on its labels, carries six more songs. That arrangement follows the original 1995 vinyl, which came with the same six tracks on a 7-inch single.

Reprise first released the album in 1995. It is Mudhoney's fourth studio album, recorded in October 1994 at The Ranch in Seattle with Jack Endino producing and engineering, and mastered by Howie Weinberg. Ed Fotheringham drew the cover art, and Charles Peterson took the photographs. Jon Wahl plays harmonica on one track and Renestair E.J. of Bloodloss plays tenor saxophone on another.

The title came from Renestair E.J. himself. Drummer Dan Peters has recalled him declaring, "I will not eat anything of my brother the cow." Several song titles nod to the band's influences: "F.D.K. (Fearless Doctor Killers)" answers Bad Brains' "F.V.K. (Fearless Vampire Killers)," "Orange Ball-Peen Hammer" points to Captain Beefheart's "Orange Claw Hammer," and "1995" is a homage to the Stooges' "1969."

"Into Yer Shtik" and "Generation Spokesmodel" were released as singles, and the video above is the second. The album reached No. 70 on the UK Albums Chart, No. 68 in Australia and No. 19 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.
