The standard black vinyl pressing of Paddywhackery: a single LP in a gatefold sleeve, with a lyric insert, on the band's own BC Records label.

The Dundalk ballad group's third album leans harder on their own songwriting than the two records before it. Andrew Hendy told NME that the band had learned "a few hundred songs" and could have kept releasing traditional material, but that touring had shown him more clearly what he wanted the band to sound like.

Hendy described the new songs as "heavier and more uptempo." Working with James Skelly as producer, the band cut most of them in two or three takes to hold on to the energy of their live shows, on the reasoning that "energy is more important than having everything polished."

The second single, "Landlord's Demise," is in Hendy's words "a song about the fall of empire in Ireland," built on a true story.
