[PREORDER] King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Alien Metal (Translucent Black Vinyl)

180g Translucent Black LP, Recycled Plastic

This pressing of Alien Metal is a single 180-gram LP in translucent black, made from 100% recycled plastic and formed by injection molding, the process the label notes as the more energy-efficient route. It ships in a high-gloss jacket with a large double-sided poster, which Fuzz Club lists at 18 by 24 inches, and the whole package sits in a 100% recycled protective over bag. The label's catalog number is PDOOM022.

Alien Metal is King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard's 28th studio album, and with it the band "set their controls for the dark heart of electronic dance music," in the label's phrase. It grew out of the rave shows the band debuted in 2025, sets built entirely from electronic material, and was sculpted largely on Eurorack modular synthesizers. The songs came out of an improvised session in F-sharp major, and the tracks run into one another without a break, as they did on Nonagon Infinity.

Stu Mackenzie has said of the approach: "I was like, I'm going to forget everything I know about music and relearn it all from scratch." He has also said, "We've never scrapped so much material as we have for this album. Entire albums, entire universes that were formulated, created, recorded, deleted and started again." Joey Walker's summary: "Alien Metal goes really hard, but it also goes to really interesting places."

p(doom) Records released the album on August 14, 2026, fourteen months after Phantom Island, a longer gap than usual for the band. It was preceded by three singles: "Level 5" on July 8, the title track on July 28 and "Kill for the Steel" on August 11. The eight tracks run 40 minutes and 55 seconds, and the album reached No. 26 on the Australian albums chart.
