Here I Am was first released in 2011. This reissue marks the album's 15th anniversary, and the label's own store describes it as the first-ever standard single-LP black pressing. It carries the ten-song standard album, five songs a side; a separate Glacier Gray double-LP edition adds four bonus tracks.

Here I Am was Rowland's third solo studio album. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Rowland has described it as "introducing myself as Kelly Rowland being Kelly Rowland," adding, "I'm the most confident I've been on a record ever."

"Motivation," featuring Lil Wayne, spent seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, reached No. 17 on the Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. "Commander," with David Guetta, topped Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart, and "Lay It On Me" features Big Sean.
