Same Trailer Different Park was Kacey Musgraves' major-label debut, issued by Mercury Nashville on March 19, 2013 after three self-released Western swing albums and several years spent writing for other artists in Nashville. The LP edition followed on April 16, catalog B0018029-01, and the artist's own store lists this barcode as the 180-gram pressing.

Musgraves produced the record with Luke Laird and Shane McAnally and wrote throughout with Brandy Clark and Josh Osborne. It was recorded across four Nashville rooms between 2012 and 2013: Ben's Studio, The Racket, Sound Emporium and Maverick Recording.

Four singles came from it. "Merry Go 'Round," the video above, arrived first in September 2012 and reached No. 14 on Hot Country Songs; "Blowin' Smoke" followed in April 2013, "Follow Your Arrow" in October 2013 became her first top ten on that chart, and "Keep It to Yourself" closed the run in March 2014.

The album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2 on 42,000 copies in its first week, topped Top Country Albums, and stayed on chart for 72 weeks; the RIAA certified it Platinum in April 2018. It won Best Country Album at the 56th Grammy Awards, where "Merry Go 'Round" also won Best Country Song, and "Follow Your Arrow" won Song of the Year at the CMA Awards. Metacritic aggregates twelve reviews at 89.
