Definitive Sound Series One-Step 180g Black Vinyl, Numbered Edition of 3,000

This is the Interscope-Capitol Definitive Sound Series edition of Live Through This, an all-analog One-Step LP cut from the album's original analog master tapes. Interscope describes it as the first vinyl pressing ever mastered directly from those tapes. Chris Bellman cut the lacquers at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Dorin Sauerbier handled the One-Step process at Record Technology, Inc., which pressed the record on Neotech VR900-D2 180g high-definition vinyl. One-Step manufacturing skips the extra plating stages of a conventional pressing, so fewer generations stand between the lacquer and the finished disc.

The tapes had been missing for years. Guitarist Eric Erlandson remembered two oversized reels from Bob Ludwig's Gateway Mastering Studios in his storage locker and had taken them for digital backups. When he pulled them out, they turned out to be the analog mixes Ludwig had compiled to master the album in 1994. Erlandson's own account of the find is printed in the package.

Only 3,000 numbered copies were made. The record comes in a heavyweight tip-on single-pocket gatefold jacket, housed in a DSS slipcase that carries the original artwork on the front, with the track listing and One-Step production details on the back. A newly created eight-page booklet comes with it, along with a certificate of authenticity that documents the mastering, plating and pressing chain. GPA Global printed the packaging. The series launched in fall 2025, and earlier titles include blink-182's Enema of the State and A Perfect Circle's Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step.

Live Through This was Hole's second studio album, first issued by DGC in April 1994. Paul Q. Kolderie and Sean Slade recorded it at Triclops Sound Studios in Marietta, Georgia, starting in October 1993. Scott Litt mixed it, except "Gutless", which J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. mixed. It is the only Hole album with bassist Kristen Pfaff. It went platinum in the US in April 1995, and Interscope notes it spent more than a year on the Billboard 200. Rolling Stone placed it at number 106 in its 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
