This single LP is part of Blue Note's Classic Vinyl series. It is a stereo, all-analog reissue that Kevin Gray mastered from the original master tapes, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal. The jacket keeps the original 84253 catalog number and cover design, and the sealed copy carries the series hype sticker. Gray's KPG@CA mark for Cohearent Audio is etched in the run-out, next to matrix numbers BNST 84253-A and -B, which follow the original stereo issue, BST 84253.

Green recorded the session on November 16, 1964, at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, with Alfred Lion producing. It reunited him with organist Larry Young and drummer Elvin Jones two months after the three first recorded together on Talkin' About!, and it added Bobby Hutcherson on vibraphone. Green had been a regular Blue Note session guitarist since 1961, but the label held this record back until 1967.

There are four selections, and Blue Note's notes point out how unusual the sources are. "Lazy Afternoon" comes from a stage musical, "Somewhere in the Night" is the theme from the television series Naked City, "I Wish You Love" is a French popular song by Charles Trenet, and the title track is a Great American Songbook standard. The cover photograph was taken in San Francisco's North Beach and frames two street signs that read Grant and Green.
