Eric Valentine produced, and the sessions traveled with the writing: Potter's home in Topanga Canyon, then Nashville, then Vermont. Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers plays on the record, alongside Nick Bockrath of Cage the Elephant, Tim Deaux of Kings of Leon and Matt Musty of Train.

"Love Me Not" reached the Top 5 at Americana radio and the Top 10 at Triple A ahead of the album, and a video for "Main Street U.S.A." arrived on release day.

Potter has said of the title: "We've always been taught that the trespassers are the bad guys, but to me it's not about reckless rebellion - it's about exploring, physically and mentally and emotionally, and being willing to step outside the narratives we've accepted."
