Picture Disc, Two LPs

Demon Days cut across two picture discs. Each of the four faces carries a single band-member portrait printed on the playing surface against white, and the band's own store sells this configuration as the 2LP picture disc.

Demon Days is the second Gorillaz album, issued in May 2005 on Parlophone: May 23 in the United Kingdom and May 24 in the United States. Gorillaz produced it with Danger Mouse, Jason Cox and James Dring at Studio 13 in London, and Howie Weinberg mastered it at Masterdisk in New York in January 2005.

The guest list runs the length of the record. Neneh Cherry sings on "Kids with Guns," Bootie Brown of the Pharcyde appears on "Dirty Harry," De La Soul on "Feel Good Inc.," Ike Turner on "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead," MF Doom on "November Has Come," Roots Manuva and Martina Topley-Bird on "All Alone," Shaun Ryder on "Dare," and Dennis Hopper on "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head."

The album reached number one in the United Kingdom and number six on the Billboard 200, has sold eight million copies worldwide, and is certified double platinum by the RIAA and six times platinum by the BPI. "Feel Good Inc." won Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals at the 48th Grammy Awards. Four singles followed: "Feel Good Inc." in May 2005, "Dare" in August, "Dirty Harry" in November, and "Kids with Guns" backed with "El Mañana" in April 2006. The band later performed the album in full across five-night residencies in Manchester and New York.
