Yellow Smoke Vinyl LP, Limited To 500 Copies

Rocket Recordings repressed Goat's 2024 self-titled album "due to popular demand," in the label's words, in two new colors. This is the record-store edition: a single LP on "Yellow Smoke" vinyl, limited to 500 copies, catalog number LAUNCH363SR. The other repress color, a "Goatbrain" variant, was held back for Rocket's own shop and the band's tour.

Goat first appeared on October 11, 2024 as the group's sixth studio album, issued by Rocket alone after four albums that Sub Pop had also released. The band recorded and produced it themselves and mixed it with Teodor Boogh assisting. Linus Andersson mastered it, and the sleeve art is by John O'Carroll. "The All Is One" was recorded outdoors at Ängårdsbergen, according to the original pressing's notes.

Rocket's notes place the album after the folk-tinged Medicine and the band's score for Shane Meadows' The Gallows Pole, and point out a few details: "Frisco Beaver" is a literal sequel to "Disco Fever" from 2012's World Music, "Fool's Journey" carries the free jazz of the members' concurrent project Djinn, and the band's interest in hip hop drives "Zombie" and the closing "Ouroboros." The anonymous, masked collective trace their story to the village of Korpilombolo in northern Sweden and work out of Gothenburg.
