The standard edition of Org Music's 2026 reissue: a single black LP in a gatefold jacket, mastered from the original Westbound analog tapes and pressed at Furnace Record Pressing.
Westbound Records released Maggot Brain on July 12, 1971. It peaked at No. 108 on the Billboard 200 and reached the top 20 of the Billboard R&B albums chart. Rolling Stone placed it at No. 486 on its 2003 list of the 500 Greatest Albums, No. 479 in 2012 and No. 136 in the 2020 revision.
The all-analog cut is by Dave Gardner of DSG Mastering, with tape restoration and lacquer work by Catherine Vericolli, additional engineering by Nick King and visual restoration of the artwork by Henry H. Owings.
