Org Music's 2026 edition of Maggot Brain cut at 45 RPM and spread across two black LPs. Cutting at the faster speed puts the album's 37 minutes on four sides instead of two.

Dave Gardner mastered the reissue from the original analog tapes at DSG Mastering and cut the lacquers with Catherine Vericolli, who also handled archival and restoration of the master tapes. The signal path runs from tape to lathe with no digital step, and the records were pressed at Furnace Record Pressing.

This is the only format in the reissue to come in a case-wrapped gatefold jacket from Stoughton Printing; the single-LP editions use standard gatefolds. Org Music's hybrid SACD was captured from the same cutting chain used for this edition.

Funkadelic recorded the album at United Sound Systems in Detroit between late 1970 and early 1971 with George Clinton producing, and Westbound Records released it on July 12, 1971.
