180 Gram Double LP With Etched Side D

This is the 2025 Anti- repress of Shore, catalog number 87814-1, on two 180-gram LPs. The music runs across three sides, five songs to a side. The fourth side carries no audio, only an art etching by visual artist Dino Matt, whose hand-drawn flora also runs through the album's packaging: a side for looking at rather than playing. The records were manufactured in Canada.

Shore is the fourth studio album by Fleet Foxes and the band's first for Anti-. It came out on September 22, 2020, timed to the autumnal equinox, together with a 55-minute companion film of the same name by Kersti Jan Werdal, shot on Super-16mm. The physical formats followed on February 5, 2021.

Robin Pecknold began writing in September 2018 and recorded between September 2019 and September 2020 without the other members of the band, producing the album himself with Beatriz Artola engineering and mixing. Sessions moved from Aaron Dessner's Long Pond studio outside Hudson, New York, to Studios St Germain in Paris, Electro-Vox in Los Angeles, where most of the record was cut, The Diamond Mine in Long Island City and Electric Lady in Greenwich Village. The pandemic ended the Los Angeles sessions early, and Pecknold finished the lyrics to all fifteen songs within a few weeks of long drives into the Catskills in June 2020.

Shore draws on a wide cast of collaborators. Uwade Akhere sings on "Wading in Waist-High Water," "Can I Believe You" and the title track. Christopher Bear of Grizzly Bear plays drums and percussion on most of the album, the horn quartet The Westerlies contributed arrangements and performances, and Tim Bernardes of O Terno wrote and sang the Portuguese outro of "Going-to-the-Sun Road." The chorus of "Can I Believe You" is assembled from roughly 400 to 500 voices sent in by Pecknold's Instagram followers, and "Cradling Mother, Cradling Woman" samples Brian Wilson counting in from The Pet Sounds Sessions.

The front cover is Hiroshi Hamaya's 1973 photograph "Outlet, Bering Glacier, Alaska," and the back carries his 1964 "Rivulet Flowing Among Trees, Akan, Hokkaido, Japan." Shore was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
