Limited Edition Sky Blue Vinyl 2LP

This is the sky-blue edition of Flea's Honora, which Nonesuch issued as an exclusive limited edition through its own web store. The album is spread across two sky-blue LPs, with all ten tracks on sides A through C; Nonesuch's store lists the fourth side as an etching that carries no music. A sticker on the shrink-wrap names the edition as exclusive blue colored vinyl and lists the band and guest singers.

Honora is the first full-length solo album from the founding bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, released by Nonesuch on March 27, 2026. Flea composed and arranged the music and plays trumpet and bass throughout. The label recounts that he resolved to practice the trumpet every day for two years, in the middle of a stadium tour, before making the record. Saxophonist Josh Johnson produced it and plays in a band with guitarist Jeff Parker, upright bassist Anna Butterss and drummer Deantoni Parks, joined by Mauro Refosco on percussion and Nathaniel Walcott on Fender Rhodes.

Thom Yorke sings and plays piano and synth on "Traffic Lights," which he wrote with Flea and Johnson, and Nick Cave sings Jimmy Webb's "Wichita Lineman." Six originals sit beside covers of Eddie Hazel and George Clinton's "Maggot Brain," Frank Ocean and Shea Taylor's "Thinkin Bout You" and Ann Ronell's "Willow Weep for Me." Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith plays on the opening "Golden Wingship," while John Frusciante adds trumpet and snare treatments to "Frailed" and mixed "Willow Weep for Me."

The sessions took place at Sunset Sound in Hollywood in February 2025, with part of "Wichita Lineman" recorded at Soundtree in London. Ryan Hewitt mixed the album at EastWest Studios, and Eric Boulanger mastered it at The Bakery in Culver City. The title honors Flea's great-great-grandmother, whose poverty in Ireland and emigration to Australia inspired the music, and the cover is a 1960s photograph of his mother-in-law, Shahin Badiyan, taken in Iran. Metacritic averages 75 out of 100 across 14 critic reviews. The first single, "A Plea," came out in December 2025 with a video directed by Flea's daughter, Clara Balzary.
