The compact disc edition of Embers to Ashes, catalog number MAR706, with all seventeen songs on one disc. It is Everlast's eighth studio album and his first in eight years, released on his own Martyr Inc Records in partnership with Thirty Tigers and Regime Music Group.

Yelawolf produced the album, which was recorded in Nashville with contributions from songwriter David Ray, whose credits include Jelly Roll and Teddy Swims. Chris Lord-Alge mixed it, and Tristan Eaton created the cover art. "I let him just steer the ship, and he nailed it," Everlast has said of Yelawolf. "When you don't want to think about it, you hire the best people."

He describes the record as "an Americana and bluesy roots-rock album," and as "a collection of songs that revolve around my last decade, not necessarily autobiographical but 'inspired by' the chaos, losses and a few wins."

Born Erik Schrody, Everlast reached a wide audience in 1992 with House of Pain's "Jump Around." His 1998 solo album Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, which carried "What It's Like," went triple Platinum, and he later won a Grammy with Santana. Singles from this album include "Stones," "My Hollywood," "Losing Man's Game," "Mistaken Identity" and "Peace of Mind."
