This is Columbia's American edition of My Aim Is True, catalogue number JC 35037, issued under license from Riviera Global Productions with copyright and phonographic copyright held by Stiff Records Ltd. The stamped runouts read P AL 35037-2C B3 on side A and P BL 35037-2C A6 on side B, and those suffixes are what set this pressing apart from JC 35037 copies whose runouts end differently.

One stereo LP, manufactured by Columbia Records and CBS Inc. The labels carry the matrix numbers AL 35037 and BL 35037. The front of the jacket sets Keith Morris's photograph of Costello inside a checkerboard border that spells out ELVIS IS KING, with the title in red lettering.

Columbia released the album in the United States in November 1977, following Stiff's UK issue of 22 July. The American running order adds "Watching the Detectives," placing it as the closing track of side one.

My Aim Is True is Costello's debut album, produced by Nick Lowe.
