This is the 2021 remastered reissue of Ocean Rain, cut to a single 180-gram black LP and issued on the Korova imprint under catalog number KODE 8. Turntable Lab's listing for this barcode notes a printed inner sleeve. The pressing reached shops on October 15, 2021, as one of the titles in Rhino's Rocktober 2021 campaign.
Ocean Rain is the fourth studio album by the English post-punk band, first released by Korova in May 1984. Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant, Les Pattinson and Pete de Freitas recorded most of it in Paris in early 1984 with a 35-piece orchestra, with further sessions in Bath and Liverpool. Production is credited to the band alongside Gil Norton and Henri Loustau.
The album reached number four on the UK Albums Chart, number 87 on the Billboard 200 and number 41 on Canada's RPM 100, and it has since been certified gold by the BPI. Three singles came from it: "The Killing Moon" in January 1984, then "Silver" in April and "Seven Seas" in July. "The Killing Moon" later turned up on the soundtrack to the 2001 film Donnie Darko.
