This is the standard black pressing of Apples For Isaac: a single 140 gram LP, catalog number 964180641, with six songs on side A and five on side B. BMG also issues the album as a green splatter edition for independent shops, a picture disc and a CD.

Work on the record began at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool and moved, after the pandemic, to The Doghouse, a residential studio in Henley, where Mojo reports most of it was made. Erica Nockalls plays strings. Ian McCulloch told the magazine: "More than any other record I can remember, it's actually sounding how I heard it in my head."

The title refers to Isaac Asimov, the science fiction writer, and the fourth song on side B takes his surname. Blondie's Clem Burke recorded the drums for ten of the eleven songs, among his final studio sessions before his death in April 2025.

The band announced Apples For Isaac on July 15, 2026. "The Light That Surrounds You," in the video above, came after "Brussels Is Haunted" as the second single and is the second song on side B.
