Red Vinyl, 12-inch EP

This is the red pressing of Bonus Fat, which ORG Music sells as the Weinerschnitzel variant, after the song on side A. The label issued the 2026 reissue in five configurations: this one, black vinyl, a Salt + Pepper shatter pressing limited to 300 copies, a CD, and a cassette on a split red and white shell.

Bonus Fat gathers the earliest Descendents recordings onto a single 12-inch. Side A opens with the five songs of 1981's Fat EP and closes with "Global Probing," an outtake that first appeared on the Chunks compilation. Side B holds both sides of the band's 1979 debut single, "Ride the Wild" backed with "It's a Hectic World." New Alliance Records, the label run by the Minutemen, put the collection together in 1985.

The two sides sit two years apart. "Ride the Wild" and "It's a Hectic World" were recorded in January 1979 at Media Art in Hermosa Beach; everything on side A came out of a March 1981 session at Music Lab in Hollywood. Milo Aukerman sings on side A, Frank Navetta takes the lead on "Ride the Wild" and Tony Lombardo on "It's a Hectic World." Navetta plays guitar, Lombardo bass and Bill Stevenson drums. Spot produced and engineered the record, and Navetta drew the cover.

ORG Music had new lacquers cut for this edition by Dave Gardner at DSG Mastering, and the record was pressed at Furnace Record Pressing. It belongs to the reissue series the label started in 2025, after the band reclaimed ownership of the masters it had made for New Alliance and SST.
