Standard Weight Black Vinyl LP in the Original Die-Cut Jacket
Barsuk Records reissued Death Cab for Cutie's second album on January 31, 2025 as a single standard-weight black LP, catalog number BARK-11-LP. The jacket reproduces the original die-cut sleeve with its six-color spot printing, and a lyric sheet comes inside. The runouts on both sides carry the SAE Mastering credit.
The album first appeared on Barsuk on March 21, 2000. The band recorded it in 1999 over about five months in family homes rather than a studio: the house of Nick Harmer's mother in Puyallup and the Bothell home of Chris Walla's parents. Walla produced the sessions, and Tony Lash mastered the original release. The core lineup was the trio of Ben Gibbard, Walla and Harmer, with earlier drummer Nathan Good heard on "The Employment Pages" and "Company Calls Epilogue."
College radio stations took up the record, and Gibbard's writing here shifted toward a more narrative style, often built from full sentences. An acoustic take on "405" followed that October on The Forbidden Love EP, also a Barsuk release.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.
