Black Vinyl 2LP 20th Anniversary Edition In Gatefold Jacket With 12-Page Booklet

Barsuk Records brought Transatlanticism back into print on July 21, 2023 under catalog number BARK32LP, timed to the double-bill tour that paired Death Cab for Cutie's album with the Postal Service's Give Up to mark twenty years of both records. The eleven songs are cut across two black LPs: three tracks each on sides A, B and D, and two on side C, which opens with the nearly eight-minute title song.

The gatefold jacket holds a 12-page full-color booklet with lyrics, credits and artwork, along with a sticker. A download code covers the full album plus the original album demos, which Barsuk issued as a digital exclusive rather than on the discs. The runouts on all four sides are etched STERLING RKS.

First released by Barsuk on October 7, 2003, Transatlanticism is the band's fourth studio album and the first with drummer Jason McGerr. Guitarist Chris Walla produced it, as he had its predecessors, recording entirely to analog tape between December 2002 and June 2003. The Barsuk Men's Choir, with Sean Nelson, John Roderick and Phil Wandscher joining Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer and Walla, sings on the title track. The record became Death Cab for Cutie's first to reach the Billboard 200, entering at No. 97, and was later certified Platinum by the RIAA. Barsuk's notes for this edition carry Rolling Stone's verdict from its best albums of the 2000s: "Their masterwork."
