Standard Weight Black Vinyl 2LP in a Gatefold Jacket

This is Barsuk Records' 2023 repress of Plans, catalog number bark47: two standard-weight black LPs at 33 1/3 RPM, housed in a gatefold jacket. When Death Cab for Cutie signed to Atlantic for this album, Barsuk kept the right to issue it on vinyl, and the Seattle label's logo still sits on the back cover. The eleven album tracks run across three sides, and the fourth side holds a single vinyl-only bonus track, "Talking Like Turnstiles." Barsuk notes that its LP edition comes without a download code. The repress is a US release, manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Plans was the band's fifth studio album and its first for a major label, released in 2005. Chris Walla produced it. The band tracked it at Long View Farm in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, the first time they had recorded away from the Pacific Northwest, and mixed it at Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin. It was also their first all-digital recording, after years of analog multitrack work, and the band sequenced it with an LP running order in mind.

The album reached number four on the Billboard 200, selling 90,000 copies in its first week. It was the band's first top-10 record, and it was certified platinum by the RIAA in 2008. It drew a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album and produced three singles: "Soul Meets Body," "Crooked Teeth" and "I Will Follow You into the Dark." The closing "Stable Song" reworks "Stability," a track the band had released on an EP in 2002.

• Refund timing may vary depending on your payment provider

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We strongly encourage customers to contact us directly with any concerns before filing a credit card dispute or chargeback.
