David Myhr - Everything Is All About You (Red Vinyl)

This is the vinyl edition of Everything Is All About You, David Myhr's album for Oglio Records: a single red LP in a jacket with a printed inner sleeve, five songs to a side. The label's packshot shows the inner sleeve printed with the lyrics.

It is Myhr's third solo album. Based in Stockholm, he fronted the Swedish power pop band The Merrymakers before going solo with Soundshine. His second album, Lucky Day, came out in May 2018 on Lojinx; it was recorded in Nashville with producer Brad Jones and included co-writes with Bill DeMain.

Both of those collaborators return here. Myhr produced the new record with Andreas Dahlbäck, working across studios in Stockholm, Los Angeles and Nashville, and the Stockholm Studio Orchestra plays on it. Jones and DeMain are credited as co-writers, and DeMain wrote lyrics for several songs, the title track among them. Oglio's notes describe the album's range as running from horn-drenched pop anthems to string-laden ballads to spare acoustic confessions.

"Take a Run at the Sun" and "Summer Summer Summer" were released ahead of the album, each with a lyric video on Oglio's channel. In the label's notes Myhr puts his remaining ambition simply, "to keep making the kind of music I want to listen to," and describes where songs start: "Inspiration can strike at any time. If I'm lucky, I'm alone and there's a piano nearby."
