Recorded on March 19, 2024 at SPACE in Evanston, Illinois, this is the second volume drawn from that night, and Delmark describes it as completing the set that Live at Space, Volume One opened. Specter plays with Brother John Kattke on keyboards, Rodrigo Mantovani on bass and Marty Binder on drums, the three of them credited across the front of the jacket.

Two of the seven tracks reached listeners before the record did. "New West Side Stroll" and "Message In Blue" are both Specter originals and both instrumentals, and Delmark released them as digital bonus tracks in October 2025 to preview this LP. The set list also reaches back through the catalog: "Bluebird Blues" and "Message in Blue" are titles he has already given to Delmark albums, in 1991 and 2014.

Specter was born in Chicago in 1963 and took up the guitar at eighteen, studying with Steve Freund. He worked as a sideman with Johnny Littlejohn, Son Seals and the Legendary Blues Band, then assembled the Bluebirds as his own backing group, and he has recorded for Delmark since 1991 - a run the label marked with the double album Six String Soul: 30 Years On Delmark. This pressing carries Delmark catalog number 897.
