This is the Real Gone Music pressing of Din of Ecstasy on pink flume vinyl, catalog RGM-1617, a limited edition and the album's debut on vinyl. It was issued in 2023 under license from Work/Columbia, alongside a separate clear-with-black-swirl edition.
Din of Ecstasy was Chris Whitley's second album, released by Columbia in 1995, four years after Living with the Law. Where the debut leaned on acoustic blues, this record turned to loud, distorted guitar; The New York Times wrote of its "Hendrixian feedback." Whitley produced it with John Custer, and Toby Wright mixed it at Muscle Shoals Sound in Sheffield, Alabama.
The core band is Whitley on vocals and guitars, Dougie Bowne on drums and percussion, and Alan Gevaert on bass. Andy Rosen adds Mellotron to "Narcotic Prayer" and Dan Whitley plays lead guitar on "O God My Heart Is Ready," which was released as a single along with "Din." Spin's Michael Azerrad rated the album 8 out of 10.
Evergreen Vinyl ships records with care and attention to detail, using established carriers and packaging practices designed to protect physical media in transit.
