Chelsea Wolfe - The Dark (CD)

This is Chelsea Wolfe's The Dark on compact disc, ten songs on one disc running 40 minutes and 26 seconds, packaged in a softpak sleeve. Loma Vista Recordings released the album digitally on August 21, 2026, and the CD and vinyl editions followed on September 18, 2026.

Wolfe wrote the record with Jennifer Decilveo, a new collaborator, and Ben Chisholm, who has worked with her for many years; Ben Babbitt also shares the writing credit on the title track. The first sessions with Decilveo took place in Los Angeles, and work began in 2024. Wolfe has said the two of them wrote "really quickly and easily," pointing to their "shared experience as women of the same age in the music industry."

Guitar comes from Robin Finck, known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, and from Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age. Justin Meldal-Johnsen plays bass, Matt Chamberlain and Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa play drums, and Laena Myers plays violin.

"Death Is Not the End" and "The Dark" were released together on June 23, 2026, followed by "Cold" on July 21 and "Seethe" on August 17. The video for "Cold," the opening track, was directed by Magdalena Wosinska around a seance theme. In France the album reached No. 70 on the SNEP Rock and Metal albums chart.
