Music On Vinyl's reissue is catalog number MOVLP3553, a 180-gram pressing on translucent violet vinyl, limited to 2,000 individually numbered copies and packaged with a lyrics insert. The eleven tracks are cut five to side A and six to side B, opening on "Surrender," which is the recording in the video above.

Heaven Tonight is Cheap Trick's third studio album. Tom Werman produced it, the second of the three records he made with the band, and the sessions were held in Los Angeles. Epic issued it in 1978, and it reached number 48 on the Billboard 200, the band's highest placing to that point.

Rick Nielsen wrote "Surrender." The band had been playing it live since 1975, two years before they signed to Epic, and as a single it reached number 62. "California Man" was the album's other single.
