Indie Exclusive CD in Clear Jewel Case

This compact disc edition of Clovis is housed in a clear jewel case and sold through independent record stores only; the standard CD is a separate release. The disc carries the full 14-song running order printed on its face.

Shooter Jennings produced the album with Crockett, working at the studio Norman Petty built in Clovis, New Mexico, where Atlantic's notes say Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison recorded in the 1950s. Crockett's band, the Blue Drifters, is the core of the record: Kullen Fox on keyboards and trumpet, Nathan Fleming on pedal steel and dobro, Alexis Sanchez on guitar, Kyle Madrigal on bass, and Mario Valdez and Jay Moeller sharing the drums. Jennings adds organ, synthesizer and guitar.

Stephen Barber arranged the strings, with Suzie Katayama credited for the string orchestra, and wrote the title track. The running order also takes in a cover of Johnny Cash's "Don't Take Your Guns to Town." Pete Lyman mastered the album.

Clovis was Crockett's second album of 2026, surprise-released about three weeks after Age of the Ram closed his Sagebrush Trilogy. It was pulled from circulation in May and returned in July on Atlantic Outpost, an Atlantic Records imprint, a return Crockett marked with the words "Today, we win one battle."
