Limited Edition Black Vinyl LP

This single black LP is a limited 2026 repress of The Milk Of Human Kindness on People Eating Fruit Records, catalog number PEF003LP. It returns the 11-track album to vinyl alongside same-day represses of Start Breaking My Heart and Up In Flames.

The Milk Of Human Kindness was Dan Snaith's third album and the first he released as Caribou. He had recorded his first two as Manitoba and dropped that name after Handsome Dick Manitoba of The Dictators threatened to sue. The Leaf Label and Domino issued the album on April 18, 2005, and Snaith produced it himself. The label's notes describe a record that folds the electronics of the first album into the drum-heavy sprawl of the second, with a debt to French progressive rock and German krautrock of the 1970s.

The title is a phrase from Shakespeare's Macbeth; Snaith has said he first noticed it on the back of a milk truck. "Subotnick" is built on a sample of The Moments' "Love on a Two-Way Street," written by Bert Keyes and Sylvia Robinson, and Ryan Lewis later sampled "Subotnick" in turn for "Vipassana" in 2009. "Yeti" was released as a single on March 22, 2005, and "Barnowl" followed on July 1. The album reached No. 29 on the UK Independent Albums chart and holds a Metacritic score of 81; Pitchfork rated it 8.5, and NME and Drowned in Sound each gave it 8 out of 10.
