A 2026 European reissue of Transa on Transoceanica, catalogue 86603, pressed as a single black LP.

Caetano Veloso recorded Transa in London in 1971, during the exile that followed his arrest in Brazil in December 1968, and Philips released it in January 1972. Ralph Mace produced. Jards Macalé directed the sessions and wrote the arrangements, playing electric and acoustic guitar; Gal Costa guests on vocals, and Ângela Ro Ro plays harmonica on the closing "Nostalgia."

Seven tracks, with English and Portuguese moving inside the same songs. "You Don't Know Me" and "Nine Out of Ten" are sung largely in English; "Triste Bahia," the longest piece here at close to ten minutes, builds on a seventeenth-century text by the Bahian poet Gregório de Matos. Rolling Stone Brazil placed the album among the ten best Brazilian records in its 2007 list, and Pitchfork ranked "You Don't Know Me" seventy-third in its 2016 survey of the best songs of the 1970s.
