1975 US repress, ATCO SD 2-806, pressed by Monarch
ATCO first issued this two-record Buffalo Springfield collection in 1973 as SD 2-806, and this copy comes from a 1975 repress made by Monarch Record Mfg. Co. The MO suffix on every label matrix and the MR logo stamped in the runouts both belong to that plant.
The object
Two LPs in a gatefold jacket, with label matrices ST-C-732873-MO through ST-C-732876-MO across sides A to D. The labels carry the Warner Communications W logo in the rim text along their lower edge.
The runouts are hand-etched, and every side is marked AT and PR; the PR shows the metalwork was done by Presswell, and the lacquers were cut at Atlantic Studios. The set was issued either with printed inner sleeves showing other Atlantic albums or with The Atlantic Group peek-a-boo sleeve.
Context
Two years separate the compilation's 1973 release from this Monarch repress. Jim Delehant and Lawrence Yasgar collated its 23 tracks, among them a nine-minute Bluebird, and Jean-Charles Costa wrote the liner notes. The cover art is by Eve Babitz, with album design by Loring Eutemey and a cover photograph from the Michael Ochs archives.
The album
This 1973 set is not the band's 1966 debut of the same name. The compilation has its own album page, which covers it as a work.
