30th Anniversary Black Vinyl 12-Inch EP In Gatefold Sleeve With Four Prints
Warp's 30th anniversary edition of Hi Scores, catalog number WARPLP367, presses the six-track EP on black vinyl in a new gatefold 12-inch sleeve, with four 12" x 12" prints inside. It is the record's first vinyl release since 2014, and Warp notes that the reissue marks the first time Boards of Canada's whole catalogue has been widely available on vinyl at the same time. It follows Inferno, the duo's album of May 2026.
Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin wrote and produced Hi Scores in 1996 at their Hexagon Sun studio, and Skam Records first released it on December 1, 1996. Warp describes it as the duo's first widely available release. "Seeya Later" had already appeared on their self-released EP Twoism, and "Turquoise Hexagon Sun" was carried over to their 1998 album Music Has The Right To Children. A 2014 reissue was remastered from the original tapes.
Pitchfork rated the EP 8.7 out of 10 and Exclaim! gave it 9 out of 10. On its 2014 reissue it reached No. 24 on the UK Independent Albums chart.
