This is the independent-retail pressing of Violins: a single LP on clear vinyl in a single jacket, with a printed inner sleeve carrying the lyrics and credits, and a sticker. Partisan Records' standard LP of the album is pressed on black vinyl.

Violins is the third album from Blondshell, the project of Los Angeles songwriter Sabrina Teitelbaum, and her third made with producer Yves Rothman, who also produced the 2023 self-titled debut and 2025's If You Asked For A Picture. Beatriz Artola mixed the record and Emily Lazar mastered it.

Partisan's notes describe eleven songs about troubled friendships, religion, the body and the slow work of healing, and name Gang of Four, Teenage Fanclub, The Go-Betweens and Sade among the touchstones. "I felt like I didn't need to overexplain anything, like I can trust the people listening more," Teitelbaum said when the album was announced. The title track, which opens side A, arrived with that announcement on June 25, 2026, with a video directed by Sabra Binder; "Heart Has To Work So Hard" came out as a single the month before.

If You Asked For A Picture, recorded at Sunset Sound and Saturn Sound in Hollywood, reached No. 13 on the UK Independent Albums chart, and Rolling Stone placed it at No. 94 on its list of the 100 best albums of 2025.
