Solid Dark Green Vinyl LP In Gatefold Sleeve

Cooking Vinyl's 2026 reissue of Brewing Up With Billy Bragg, pressed on solid dark green vinyl as part of the label's limited run of colored editions and housed in a gatefold sleeve. John Webber remastered the album at Air Studios, working from high-resolution transfers of the master tapes held in Bragg's own archive. It is one of three Bragg albums reissued together in 2026, alongside Talking With The Taxman About Poetry and Workers Playtime.

Brewing Up was Bragg's second album, issued by Go! Discs on October 12, 1984. It was recorded in July 1984 at Berry Street Studio in Clerkenwell, London, with Kenny Jones engineering. Bragg's vocals and guitar are joined in places by Kenny Craddock on organ and Dave Woodhead on trumpet; Cooking Vinyl's notes single out the attack on the tabloid press in "It Says Here," the trumpet on "The Saturday Boy" and the Hammond organ on the closing "A Lover Sings." The cover's subtitle, "A Puckish Satire on Contemporary Mores," is a line from Woody Allen's Love and Death, set over an illustration by Heeps Willard.

The album reached No. 16 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 23 in New Zealand, and was certified Silver by the BPI. NME placed it sixth among its albums of 1984, and Q listed it at No. 87 in its 2000 poll of the 100 greatest British albums.
