Single LP Reissue, Columbia and Legacy

Lamont Coleman signed to Columbia in 1993 and released this, his first album, in March 1995. It was the only studio album issued in his lifetime. He was killed in a drive-by shooting at 45 West 139th Street in Harlem on February 15, 1999 — the street whose sign stands over his shoulder on the cover.

The record was made at Power Play Studios in Queens, with further sessions at Unique Recording and Chung King in Manhattan, and mixed at Battery Studios in New York. Production is split between Buckwild, Lord Finesse, Showbiz and Craig Boogie; Finesse and Showbiz were, like Big L, members of the Bronx collective Diggin' in the Crates, which he joined in 1991. "Da Graveyard" carries one of the earliest recorded guest verses by Jay-Z, and "8 Iz Enuff" passes the microphone around a crowd of Harlem rappers including Herb McGruff and Cam'ron, credited here as Killa Kam.

It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 149 and reached No. 22 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and had sold more than 200,000 copies by August 2000. Three singles came off it: "Put It On", "M.V.P." and "No Endz, No Skinz".

Originally issued by Columbia Records on March 28, 1995.
