Beck - Ride Lonesome (DSS One-Step Vinyl)

Definitive Sound Series One-Step, Numbered

Capitol's Definitive Sound Series takes the album through a one-step lacquer-to-stamper chain rather than the usual three-stage plating, and Ride Lonesome is the first new Beck record to go through it. Levi Seitz mastered it at Black Belt Mastering from the 24-bit/96kHz high-resolution original vinyl files. Record Technology, Inc. pressed the edition on 180-gram Neotech VR900-D2 vinyl, limited to 3,000 numbered copies. Capitol's notes describe the process as one that "eliminates multiple plating stages" in order to hold the record's dynamic range.

The package is a heavyweight tip-on gatefold jacket inside a custom slipcase carrying the album artwork, with a certificate of authenticity that sets out the mastering, plating and pressing chain.

The album itself was cut at United Studios in Hollywood, in Room B. Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner play on it, the same group Beck last convened a decade earlier. Nigel Godrich handled the mix.

"In The Night," heard above, is the third song on side A and was the single that announced the record in July 2026.
