CD Album

This is the US compact disc of Walls from Columbia, catalog number 19075895482: one disc holding all eleven of the album's tracks. Above the track list on the back inlay is a line from Streisand, "This album is about what's on my mind." The same panel names Streisand and Jay Landers as executive producers. Sealed copies carried a front sticker calling the record new songs for our time and for all time.

Walls is Streisand's thirty-sixth studio album, released by Columbia on November 2, 2018. Target's listing calls it her first album made up mainly of original songs since 2005. The lead single, "Don't Lie to Me," was written as a criticism of the American political climate during Donald Trump's presidency. The title song, by Walter Afanasieff with Alan and Marilyn Bergman, alludes to Trump's repeated calls for a wall on the Mexican border.

Production is split between Afanasieff, Desmond Child, David Foster, Jonas Myrin, John Shanks and Streisand herself, and Child wrote "Lady Liberty" on his own. Next to the new songs are a medley of "Imagine" and "What a Wonderful World," a reading of "What the World Needs Now," and "Take Care of This House," the Leonard Bernstein and Alan Jay Lerner song from the musical 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The disc ends with "Happy Days Are Here Again," the Milton Ager and Jack Yellen standard.

Walls entered the Billboard 200 at number 12. It reached number six in the UK, where it became her fifteenth top-10 album, and number seven in Australia. Metacritic gives it an average of 84 from five reviews, and it was nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards.
