Amon Amarth - The Allfather Awakens (Indie Exclusive Orange Vinyl)

Indie Exclusive Yggdrasil Burns Orange & Red Marble Vinyl LP

Yggdrasil Burns is the independent record store exclusive among the nine US vinyl variants of The Allfather Awakens: a single LP pressed in orange vinyl marbled with red. The other eight colorways are reserved for the band's and Metal Blade's own web stores and for partner outlets.

Oden, the Norse all-father and a deity of war, wisdom, death, magic and poetry, remains the through-line of Amon Amarth's lyrics and artwork. Metal Blade describes the record not as a concept album but as a collection of historically inspired tales of conflict and sacrifice. The cover is a portrait of Oden by Tom Thiel, who has created seven of the band's album covers.

"Upphaf," a translated stanza from the prophetic poem Völuspá, is the band's first acoustic recording. "The Allfather Awakes," the song that gave the album its title, was the last one written for it.
