Rhino High Fidelity 180-Gram Black Vinyl, Rocktober 2025

This edition of Eliminator belongs to Rhino's High Fidelity series. Kevin Gray cut it from the original analog master tapes at Cohearent Audio, and Optimal Media pressed it on 180-gram black vinyl. Rhino issued it as a limited, unnumbered single LP in its Rocktober 2025 program, as a brick-and-mortar exclusive.

The heavyweight gatefold jacket carries an obi strip listing the pressing details and the catalog number RHF1 23774, and the disc labels bear the Rhino High Fidelity logo. Inside is an exclusive insert in which Billy F. Gibbons talks through the album in a Q&A with James Austin. The same Rocktober run gave Degüello, El Loco, Afterburner and Recycler the High Fidelity treatment, and Rhino also collected all five albums in the From the Top (1979-1990) box set.

Eliminator, ZZ Top's eighth studio album, first appeared on Warner Bros. Records on March 23, 1983. Gibbons raised the band's tempos and brought in synthesizers and drum machines, and the basic tracks were cut at Ardent Studios in Memphis with engineer Terry Manning, with Bill Ham producing. "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," "TV Dinners" and "Legs" were all released as singles, and the "Legs" video won the band the MTV Video Music Award for Best Group. The customized 1933 Ford coupe on the cover appears in those videos too. A 1986 court decision recognized pre-production engineer Linden Hudson as the composer of "Thug."

The album has sold 11 million copies and holds diamond certification in the US. Rolling Stone placed it at number 398 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
